Levan Vaznareli was born in 1980 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is a professional cinematographer and photographer whose passion for photography began during his school years. Over the years, he has been continuously working on an ongoing documentary series dedicated to Upper Adjara. Although at first glance this series appears to be documentary in nature, the artist views the imagery as stills from an unfinished feature film. As this mountainous region of Georgia is the birthplace of his parents, he maintains a deep emotional connection to his ancestral roots.

Alongside his regional work, Vaznareli is deeply engaged in street photography. Throughout his career, he has captured the urban rhythm of Paris, Rome, Munich, Batumi, New York, and his hometown of Tbilisi. The majority of his photographic series are shot on black-and-white film.

Recently, Vaznareli co-founded Kamo Studio, an analog photography workshop, where he and his colleagues developed an educational curriculum to share the art, technique, and knowledge of film photography. Furthermore, they pioneered the intricate platinum-palladium printing process in Georgia. Works produced using this master technique were highlighted in their recent group exhibition hosted at the Anagi Art Foundation in April 2026.
